kitty losing hair on chin

My 8 monh old kitten is losing some hair just below his lower lip... from a distance, it looks like he's sticking out his tongue.

Is this a health malady? ... or am I just being over protective?

Hair loss can come from many reasons. The location of the problem you're having, makes me think that your kitty may be having a problem with acne (blackheads), or perhaps is allergic to something their chin touches. Your kitty could also be infected with fleas (the chin is an area that fleas seem to love on cats).

The chin is an area that cats are not able to really clean with their tongue and paws.

Other than those general pointers- I can't tell you an exact reason for why your kitty is losing fur because i can't see your cat. I am not a Veterinarian, and there could be other reasons for the hair loss. The information I gave you comes from personal experience. Good luck with your kitty.
