my 10 year old friend Moses has had a few lumps of very sticky back hair about 10cm in front of his tail for 2 weeks now. doesn't bother him if i tease it out a bit, skin normal underneath, feels oily, no obvious odour or change in that time. he's an outdoor sortof chap, healthy and happy. before i attempt some sort of human de-cleanse as he clearly can't/won't are there any thoughts on what it might be or tips on de-greasing Moses?
thanks |

Use some vegetable oil to break down the grease. My cat hid under a car once, and came out covered in motor oil.

When you wash a kitty, you need to make sure that you use shampoo that is designed for cats. The reason for this is that the oils in a cat's fur are an aspect of their immune system- the oils help them fight diseases.
When you choose a shampoo, choose one that is hypoallogenic just to be on the safe side. Also, make sure that your cat is completely dry before you set him/her loose, cats get cold easily with wet fur. I wash my kitty regularly, my 19 year old actually enjoys getting a shampoo. I just put the shampoo on in advance and stick him in the shower. Or if it is summertime, i put the hose on him and he'll just stand there and wait till i'm done. |
