Default Crystals in cat"s urine

Hi, I have just joined your forum. Because my cat Molly has lost weight and all her lab tests are normal my Veterinarian suggested a urinalysis. Imagine my surprise when the result showed that Molly has the crystals associated with the tainted cat food scandal- none of the foods that she has eaten have been withdrawn. As I mentioned her kidney function tests are normal. On the Veterinarian's advise I have been trying to flush out her kidneys by only feeding wet food to which extra water has been added. She will have a follow up urinalysis this week.
Has anyone else encounted this or have any thoughts?

Hi and welcome to the forum. I have not experienced this myself, however, thank you for letting us know about it. It just goes to show you that even if the cat food has not been recalled, it pays to keep an eye out. I have not been convinced that the pet food scandal isn't over. I hope your cat makes a full recovery and please keep us informed.

Thanks! I have heard from the Veterinarian that the latest urine smple from Molly does not now show any crystals, thank goodness. Looks like all that extra water I have been giving her worked. Still no idea where they came from of course as she has never had any of the food that has been recalled. My Veterinarian is talking to a renal specialist and will get back to me. Hopefully I can stop flushing her kidneys after that.
