Default "Drunk-like" Symptoms

I recently noticed my two year old, outdoor cat is having trouble with her balance when she walks. She stumbles slowly around and when she tries to stop and change her direction she nearly falls over. She seems normal in all other ways. I live in Florida and there are frogs and lizards the cats like to play with that might have poisoned her if she has eaten one. If anyone has experienced these types of symptoms with their cats I would sure appreciate any advice that I could get. Thanks.

Steve

Sounds like your cat may have been blinded in one of his eyes. From what I have researched, it will be uncertain to tell by yourself, but you can try using a flashlight to check if the pupil dialates, but sometimes blindness cannot be determined by this as it has not settled in the pupil itself.

You can also try covering one eye and seeing if it reacts to movement, but if your cat is anything like mine he won't be too keen on the idea.

As for being poisoned, cats usually vomit whatever it was that they ingested, unless it is beyond their natural capability to do so.

Your cat needs to be seen by a Veterinarian ASAP. There are too many possibilities to go into. Some are nothing to worry about, but sadly, many of them can be fatal if not treated quickly.

I'm only going to list one possibility; antifreeze poisoning. It's deadly, and usually too late once they start showing sympoms. But there may be a chance.

Get Kitty to the Veterinarian.
