Default coold cat

A neighbor brought a cat over that seems to be in severe distress, it is shivering and its gums are real pale. Is ther anyting I can do for this cat? It was very cold here last night, this is not a pet but appears to be a stray

Unfortunately, unless you are willing to adopt it, there is little you can do. Sounds like he was just suffering from the elements.

If you have other pets, be aware that this stray may be carring worms, and most likely is not up to date on it's shots. If you cannot afford to provide it with the health care it needs, I would take it to the human society.

Letting it "go" might be a mistake. It might freeze to death. If it does not get adopted by someone they will humanly put it to sleep. Much less painfull then dying of hyperthermia.
