Unhappy Cat is dying and I want to save him.

My cat was diagnosed with a disease a few months ago, I don't remember it because cat is causing much disruption in the family, everyone feels for him because we all raised him as our first. We would have to pay more for tests, to find out what he has. This is when I am never fond of the prices vets charge for. A year before his brother was killed, so losing him is extremely disheartening. For several weeks he was getting skinny, but was able to eat, bring socks up like he always does and enjoy the great out doors. Recently his health has suddenly dropped (I have scoured the net, and I have read this is all normal. I feel helpless, because my family is being protective of him, basically being foolish and not trying. Personally I love him more than anyone right now, and want to do anything to save him, At least knowing I tried. He hasn't eaten for 3-4 days and drank water. He barely gets up, doesn't go to the washroom by himself, and can barely walk on his own, he can't even stand anymore. I'm basically in a last ditch effort. We force feed him and drop water, he still has the strenght to get up, but he has quickly deteriorated from what I know of him and how he was.

I am sorry that your poor kitty isn't doing well and for what you're having to go through with him. I can tell from what you wrote that you love him very much. I can't give you any advice for how to make him well again, it sounds like he hasn't been well for a long time. Poor kitty.

But I would like to say, that you are helping him by being with him and loving him. Sometimes that's the only thing we can console ourselves with when there's no other way we can help.

This past year, I lost both of my kitties. Ranger died in June at 19 1/2 and Abby died last September at 10 1/2. If you ever need anyone to talk with, there are people here.

I'm sorry to hear your kitty is sick. I am confused. First you said he was diagnosed with a disease, then you said more tests would have to be run to find out what he has. Has your Veterinarian prescribed any antibiotics? Is he tender to the touch anywhere, meaning he objects when you handle him in any location? Is he urinating? Obviously you are trying to keep him hydrated, but is it enough and is any coming back out? I'm at a loss for suggestions, or even a guess. You are doing right by him feeding him and forcing water. I dunno. You have to make up your mind on whether a trip to the Veterinarian is in his future. It might be simple, then again...I'll keep tabs on this maybe someone else can ask better questions than I. Has he been exposed to something that would make him sick like this? I hope you can save him. I know I'd be at a severe loss if one of my girls was deathly sick. Good luck keep us posted.
