Unhappy Problems moving my cat

For a few years after grad school, I kept living with my mom and sister on the family farm. My cat, Seymour, came in the house during the day and was allowed water, but if he wanted to eat or use the litter box, he was put outside in a small room off of our garage with another cat, Stella. He would meow at the back door if he wanted to go out to his "other room". He was never allowed outside as he is a registered Persian, not to mention my baby...

Well, recently, I moved in with my BF in his new house. For a few days, Seymour would not eat or drink anything. After about 24 hours, he was using the litter box again. Then, after another day or so, I noticed he was drinking. But, he wouldn't eat. After 3 days, I took him to a Veterinarian who really ticked me off with the fact that he pretty much blew me off. So, I drove Seymour 45 minutes away back to his old Veterinarian who ran all sorts of tests. Seymour was perfectly healthy, just a tad dehydrated. Even his liver looked good. The Veterinarian kept him overnight and gave him IV fluids to hydrate him. Then he suggested I take him to his old home for a couple of days, so I did. He started eating again soon after arriving back in his old home.

Well, after a couple of days, I went back and got Seymour again. He seemed a bit better this time, not crying very much at all. He is very active, exploring lots. He drank and used the litter box. But... he still wouldn't eat. After a couple of days of this, I called his Veterinarian again who recommended I take him home for about a week and let him eat lots to avoid hepatic lipidosis. My mom and sis tried feeding him in the house instead of the garage and he won't eat inside their house either. He won't eat anywhere but his little garage room.

So... I am going to get him again tomorrow and try again. The Veterinarian gave me an appetite-stimulating drug, but I am still very worried. I do have some Nutri-Cal that I will give him via syringe if he doesn't eat. But, how long do I let him go like this if he refuses to eat in the house? I am really worried about my cat's health! Has anyone gone through this before? People keep telling me that "it'll be okay" and "just be patient and he'll eat when he gets hungry enough", but I am concerned over allowing him to be anorexic due to the possibility of hepatic lipidosis.

Advice please?!

Talking Update

Just to let everyone know, my kitty is eating again. What worked is a combination of Megace (an appetite stimulator) combined with force-feeding him Nutri-Cal. After having to eat nasty-smelling- and I am sure nasty-tasting- Nutri-Cal, I think his cat food started looking better and better.

I don't think many people come here, considering the lack of replies, but I wanted to post my solution in case anyone else has this problem.
