14 YO male w/ Hyperthyrodism

My oldest was diagnosed this January with Hyperthyrodism after we took him in for his dental cleaning. He had been loosing weight and hair, but I had attributed this to his old age. The blood work had his Thyroid level at T-6, normal should be 1.5-4.8. Well after months of playing with the medication dosages, the thyroid levels are good. He's grown most of his hair back and is no longer loosing weight. (having a hard time gaining back what he lost).

Anyway, took him in this past Wed to try and get the teeth cleaned again and now his liver levels are though the roof. 400 higher than normal. Doctor says he may have an infection of some sort. Has put him on strong antibiotics and will retest blood in 2 weeks.

Has anyone else had simalr experiences?

I read your post and thought I would add by 2 and half cents worth

Single liver values can be misleading. Which liver value is abnormal is important.

Liver values may be abnormal from drug usage, extra hepatic reasons (other disease such as hyperthyrodism, dental disease etc. ) as well a liver disease itself.

Were there other liver test performed and what were there results? Were there abnormal values to suggest an infection or is the cat febrile? If there are real concerns bile acids should be be run. They are considered the liver function test of choice.

Research you thyroid medicine. Some of these can increase certain liver test values without any real concen
