Default Mystery Illness

My daughter's cat, Molly, is 7 1/2 years old and has always been in good health. About 4 months ago she started withdrawing and not eating. We have had her to 3 different vets and no one has any idea what is wrong with her. She has thickened patches on her skin and her hair falls out - now she has several bald spots. Depression and stress were suggested as we brought in 4 new feral cats 8 months ago but we did this before with no problems so we don't think that's it. We have to force-feed her but that isn't getting to the root of the problem. Has anyone out there had a similar problem? I would appreciate any help or suggestions you can give me.

Dianne (Molly's grandmom)

Don't take my word for it- I'm not a doctor or a Veterinarian- but this sounds a little like psoriasis. With psoriasis (in humans, at least), the infected person develops outbreaks of dry, thick, red areas of skin, covered with what appear to be silvery scales. Does that sound like your cat's disease?

If I'm right, your Veterinarian can just give you some pills or ointments to put on the cat's skin.

I hope this helps! Good luck!

Smile your cat

have your Veterinarian check the cat for thyroid issues and autoimmune issues.

Your suggestion is worth a try! When we take Molly back to the Veterinarian, we'll ask about that possibility. I don't think that would be the entire problem but it could be a substantial part of it. Thank you.

Thank you. I think at least part of your suggestion was already tested when
Molly had her initial bloodwork but I'll check with the Veterinarian to be sure.
ANYTHING is worth a try. Thank you.
