Confused Lethargic Chihuahua Pup -8 WEEKS

My fiance' went to a bad breeder I am guessing... And got me this doll of a tea cup chihuahua pup, but something does not seem right with her. Today is her first day in the house, she's NEVER been held, NEVER been out in the grass and is 8 weeks old. She shys from everyone, but me. She ate some, by hand feeding, drank a bit by hand feeding, and has spent her day sleeping, huddled scared in my lap. She was home for 6-7 hours before deficating, and it was watery stool. (NO URINATION) She is being fed the same food the breeder had fed her and yes it is understandable for her frightened behavior, and that yes puppies do sleep alot but not this much. She refuses to play, also understandable. I am really concerned with her being so lethargic and not deficating like a healthy pup would. I am taking her to a Veterinarian first thing in the morning, but would love any advice anyone has to offer to calm my nerves.

Thanks much,
Corine

Unhappy Veterinarian Check... Bad news...

So my pup was dehydrated even though I spent my night trying to feed and water her every hour, no sleep but she slept like a baby... She has bloody stools and may have a very bad liver defect... She has skin mites and is losing hair... None the less she is at the Veterinarian currently, lets pray for the poor girl. So young and its already so tough for her.

I hope you get good news from the Veterinarian! I'll be thinking of your little baby.

I hate breeders like this! If the pup was in fact 8 weeks old, I would bet she was showing some symptoms already if she has a liver shunt or some other defect (she wouldn't have been growing as well as the litter mates). I would also wonder if the pup has had any vaccines yet? I would request proof from the breeder's Veterinarian. Puppies should be well socialized with people and exposed to a variety of environments before they are sold. Sounds like this person was just in it for the money and that is never a good thing when it comes to living animals.

I hope your baby gets better!

Unhappy Update

I am sorry I never got to update this as I had my first child recently very busy work being a mother.

While at the Veterinarian she had liver failure and what I understood from what I was told it wasn't something they could fix so sadly I had to make the decision to put her down. I've never grown so attached to a pup like I had with her, was a very sad day when she went.

Oh a higher note 3 weeks later I searched for some breeders myself and found a lovable Boston terrier who is my best friend now. No health problems with him thus far and he is a great addition to our growing family.
