Default Miniature Schnauzer is ill, acting strange

I took my Miniature Schnauzer to the Veterinarian yesterday after he vomited once, had diarrhea over the week, and broke out in red rashes and hives Thursday night. The Veterinarian told us that he probably got into something that gave him an allergic reaction and this reaction caused all of his symptoms. They gave him a steroid shot, cortisone pills, and special shampoo to help his itching. Since the Veterinarian appointment, he hasn't been drinking any water and has just been lying around all day with no energy. I have been giving him ice cubes every few hours to get some liquid in him and he did eat his food (rice and chicken, as the doctor prescribed because of the diarrhea). Also, he looks very worried and paranoid at times - staring off, looking around, and his ears are usually pinned back. Is all of this behavior because of his illness? Side effects of the medication? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

How come the Veterinarian prescribed meds based on probability? Didn't he made test to make sure that his diagnose on your dog is accurate?

How is he doing now? I suggest you change his diet. In the meantime, don't inlcude grain in your dog’s diet. Grain creates acidity in the blood. This causes skin problems, digestive issues, allergies, sickness, diarrhea, anal gland problems etc.
