Confused Fleas

I am going crazy trying to solve the flea problem. This has been going on forever with all three of my dogs. Two of which stay inside all the time, they are small dogs. Then I have a half husky/half Alaskan Malamute that comes in at night. We have tried everything: Frontline, Adams Flea Treatment, Flea Dip, Flea/Oatmeal Shampoo. Soapy water in a bowl on the floor under a lamp so fleas will jump in and flea stuff for the yard, house, just fighting the problem all the time. I live in Alabama and people say we haven't had a winter cold enough to kill the bugs. Right now one of the dogs is very sick. I guess a Veterinarian will be a trip tomorrow. Just can't imagine what it is, my daughter's dog does give her a fit if she doesn't pay enough attention to him. She's 24 years old, the dog is a chihua.
Thanks if you have any sugestions on fighting the fleas. I will be enternally grateful.

Thumbs up Fleas

Treat your entire yard for fleas. We found "High Yield Kill-A-Bug II Lawn Granules" at our local co-op store. That will do it! Good luck - I know how aggravating this problem is.

Post Brewers yeast

Have you tried fighting the flea problem through dietary changes at all?
I can only tell you what has worked for my dog. The first year I had him he did have a problem with fleas. We live in the city and we walk in the park where he's around other dogs. That year I did buy Frontline. Then I talked to a few people and did some reading and decided to try adding Brewers Yeast to his diet. Apparently the dogs ingesting it gives off an odor that fleas don't care for. It's also very good for the dog, as it contains many vitamins, minerals, and protein. If you're not familiar with Brewers yeast, I'd suggest you go to a vitamin store or a natural food store. They can show you to the right product.
This is NOT bakers yeast!
I have a terrier mix, about 25lbs. I sprinkle about 1/2 tsp. into his food daily.
If your dog doesn't care for the taste, I'd hide it in a small bit of meat or ?
I hope this helps. I'm only guessing as to the amount I give my dog. I would
spend some time online researching the topic. I'm also thinking there are
natural 'substances' that could be used in your yard and/or house that wouldn't be toxic but might help. If I find something, I'll post again to you.
good luck,
Jilly and DoogieDawg

when you're at the Veterinarian's office- ask them about a product called Revolution. Also, ask if there are any injections you can give your dogs that kill fleas.

If you're using all the flea products all at once (yard, collars, frontline, etc etc) it can be toxic to animals- just wanted to make you aware of that. :-)

Good luck with your fight against fleas.

Just one more tip, put a flea collar that you've broken up, into your vacuum canister/bag.

That's an old dog! Amazing!

It sounds like he's got a behavioral/phobia type of problem. I recommend watching cesear millam (the dog whisperer), his show, book, and website provide great tips and information for dealing with these types of problems.

It may also help to walk your dog more. Additionally, the dog could also benefit from an obediance training course.

Good luck with all of your issues.

Is that in dog years or human years? I read somewhere recently that the oldest known dog in recorded history was 27 years. Amazing if you have one approaching a historical record!

Back to your problem, we used sevin dust on the yard, we did one treatment a month for 6 months to not only kill the fleas, but also the one hatching from existing eggs.

Good luck
