Unhappy Sick puppy refuses to eat. Do I need to start force-feeding?

(I'm sure there've been a million threads like this... But I'm worried so I'll post it again.)

We recently adopted a 6 month-old beagle/pointer mix, and he quite predictably came to us with kennel cough. For the first few days he seemed alright, but we took him to the veterinarian when he started coughing up phlegm. He's now been on antibiotics and eye drops (for an eye infection) for about 4 days and hasn't eaten anything more substantial than a teaspoon of peanut butter. He was a little pudgy when we got him but now he's losing weight fast and I'm getting pretty worried. Do I need to start pouring broth down his throat before he starves?

He's got a buffet of various dog-treats, cheese, peanut butter, bread... Even wet cat food in front of him right now. Tried chicken and beef broth, special liquid puppy diet, gatorade (for dehydration? : I was getting desperate.) Nothing seems appetizing. I'm reluctant to shove things down his throat until I know it's absolutely necessary (pills are bad enough.)

We'll be calling the veterinarian up tomorrow but I wanted to know if there was anything I could do for poor Harvey until then. He just lies around and looks so sad I can't stand it!

If you've got any advice, please share.
Thanks!
-Lisa
