Question Help! Dog ate 6-8 lemon poppy seed muffins

Yesterday, our 15 lb, 3 yr old Prince Louie, a Bishon and Shiz Tu (sp?) mix, got on the kitchen chair, grabbed a ziplock bag full of muffins, tore it open and "ate the whole thing"! (not the plastic bag, he was "caught" before he could) It has been about 24 hours. This morning when I put him outside to do his "thing", as he was urinating, he tried to view his underbelly...he was squatting. Then he had a stool, but didn't seem to be finished. I waited a few minutes and let him in. He started moping around, with his ears and tail down. I put him back outside, watching him for nearly 10 minutes. He didn't urinate or have another stool but would lay down on his belly for a few seconds, get up, move to another spot and do the same thing, as though he couldn't get comfortable. He clearly wasn't himself. It has been an hour now since I let him back in. He is currently laying on the floor near me, curled up like he usually does, but isn't barking at the people passing our house, wish is highly unusual for him. I can't tell if he is constipated or has painful urination or a full bladder. Should I be worried?...or should I just let a little time go by and see how he does? He ingested a lot of "bread" and poppy seeds yesterday. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for reading this.

I would call your Veterinarian's number. Even they are not open right now, their answering machine should give you an emergency number to call. I'd call to make sure that poppy seeds are not toxic to dogs. Your dog's behavior doesn't sound good (but, please remember, I'm not a Veterinarian).
