my poor dog

my dog aged 12yrs,female ,spayed has been having a swelling under her eye since this morning.She is a german spitz.I noticed watering of her left eye last night and also swelling of her left nostril and thought it would pass off..... I am feeling terrible for her though she has no pain and is feeding well.What may be the reason for this swelling and do I need to see the Veterinarian?

I really don't know much about animals all together but I do know anatomy a little and the eyes, nose and ears are attached together, the nose and the eye are the same problem, take a look in her ears and check for redness, swelling and/or wierd looin ear wax, also take a whiff and if it smell abnormal then I would say it is some kind of infection. Is the water from her eyes clear? Honestly though she is getting up there in age, it probably is a good idea to take to get checked, unless someone else has any other ideas!
