Nose Bleed

I have an 11 year old it bull terrier and last night he had a nose bleed.
What can be causing this? Is this serious? Any information can be helpful.

Could be trauma, did he bump into anything?
Could be rat poison, any chance he got in to some?
Could be a polyp, tumor or infection in his sinuses.
He should see a Veterinarian if he didn't bump into anything.
