Default should my dog have the operation

Hi my dog becks is an 8 year old black lab fantastic looking short faced handsome dog. He recentley had a lump removed from his upper jaw which was tested and we were told by our Veterinarian it was benign however it grew back so we had it removed again and exrays taken. They were looked at by a dental Veterinarian who is convinced it is cancer and wants to remove part of his jaw to ensure it is all removed. They can not guarentee that it wont gro w back it is already regrowing . He is booked in this week for the op however i have my reservations about putting becks through this sort of operation it is alot for him to go through only to be told that the cancer is aggressive and will possibly come back any way. What do you think i should do the alternative is very sad but i want to spare this very proud energetic dog the embarrassment of suffering in his last years do you think his survival rate is good or not can i have some general advise
