Default Swelling , thinking red ant attack

My American Eskimo dog looks like she was bitten by Red ants .Perhaps when she was digging . The top of her noise is red, raw in spots , swelled up along with her eye lids , which are also red in nature. She is acting normal , she does itch her nose with her paw . I put neosporin on her nose and it seems to be helping . I have never seen this before .any thoughts /

I don't know if it was ants or something else, but it does sound like she's reacting to something she got into.

Call your Veterinarian and ask if you can give her a dose of Benadryl, and how much. It'll make her more comfortable and help reduce the swelling.

Thank You , that is exactly what my Veterinarian said to do , the swelling went down , big scab now . I live is South Carolina , those darn red ants are vicious .

I'm glad she's feeling better.

You can use something like Bag Balm or even plain petroleum jelly on the scab to keep it soft and help it heal more quickly. If it gets too dry, it'll start to itch, and she'll scratch at it, making it worse, and that slows down the healing.
