Unhappy Young dog have difficulty jumping

My cocker spaniel-shizu mix began having difficulty and pain getting on and off of the couch yesterday. She is only two and has been spayed. She is also sensitive when picked up and moved. Does anyone know what could cause this?

Hi Jackie,
I had a Lhasa that had a similar problem. It turns out she had a swollen disc in her back. I think a trip to the Veterinarian would be in order to rule out back problems or hip problems ( a little young yet for hip problems, but you never know).
Does she limp at all when she walks? If so it could also be a knee problem (luxating patella).
But if its just jumping up and down off furniture, I would suspect a back problem. She may also be showing a hunched up or rounded back if it really hurts her.
Lastly, was she spayed just recently? If so it could be related, but if its been a while (more than a couple of months) most likely its not related to the spay.
good luck.
