Default Spayed Dog is bleeding

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience or have any idea as to whether this is normal or not...

My dog Rosie was spayed about 6+ years ago. She just started bleeding again the last few days. It took awhile to figure out where it was coming from. Her coat's pretty thick and I thought maybe she had a rough spot on her skin somewhere. It's just spotting, but tonight there seemed to be a little more. Is this normal??? It seems strange to me, but I can't find anything on the net about it.

Thanks so much,
Rosie's Human (Tammy)

Default Bleeding dog after years of spaying

Hi Tammy, My female dog is bleeding too after years of being spayed. I was wondering if you had any answers to your post? I've been searching the net too to find out answers, all are saying go to the vets. Now I understand that's the wises course of action, but I can't really afford it right now. Maybe in a couple of weeks. Did your Rosie stop her 'heat'? Did you end up taking her to the vets? Please let me know what happened.

Kris

Hi Kris,

We finally figured it out. Rosie's kind of big girl and when she would lay on the kitchen floor (it's like a stone tile) she would lay completely flat and was scratching her private area on the outside and it would bleed on the floor. The scrapes were so small and covered with hair so it was hard to spot (besides the mess on the floor).

Since then, I put a blanket on the floor and the bleeding has stopped. The trick is to keep her off the floor (she likes it because it gets cold).

I know it's rough financially, but it really does sound like your dog needs to see the Veterinarian.
Maybe they will let you make a payment arrangement or possibly pay half and post date a check?

If yours is bleeding inside that could be really dangerous. Which is what really scared me. Maybe the SPCA can help you. They do it on animal planet (help owners that can't afford it - sometimes).

Good luck and keep us updated.

Tammy

Hi there Kris,

I am having the same problem with my 8yr old rottie/lab. we had her spayed about a year ago because we had to in order to adopt her from the pound. the spaye nearly killed her because she is so old and we tried to get them to let us go without it, but they wouldn't have any of it. anyways, for the last couple of days my nellie has been exhibiting signs similar to heat and i know that is impossible, or is it. I have been looking all over the net and reading the stupidest questions and answers and am getting no response. i took in her urine today to get tested and the Veterinarian said she couldn't find anything wrong. i was wondering what happened with your dog, as money is also an issue to me at the moment. and honestly, i love her, but she also has glaucoma and arthritis in her back legs and can barely make it up and down the stars outside. I'm just wondering if spending another $300 on her is wise or if i should let her go with some dignity. ANYWAYS, if you could let me know what it was with you dog, that'd be great, because i'm not getting anywhere with my Veterinarian.
sincerely,
Karina

I'm afraid I don't know the answer to your question. :-( But hopefully someone else will say something. I just wanted to reply, so that you don't feel like your words were applied to a black hole.

Have you tried a different Veterinarian?
