I hope you guys will be able to help me!!
A few days ago I got a puppy from my sister-in law. Since then I have begun to notice that she breathes really rapidly compared to my other dog. It seems a real struggle for her to breathe. Now she is vomitting on occasion, goes back and forth between diarrhea and normal stool. She will drink water but tonight she didn't touch her food. Other than that she is active and playful, no nose or eye discharge either. My other dog, who does not show any symptoms, I have had for several years has not been vaccinated and I worried if the puppy might have something contagious. I have been giving her puppy vitimans hoping that it will help her get over this. Any info would be much appreciated!!! Thanks! |

Hello and welcome to pethealthforums! This is very little information to go on... Rapid breathing is a symptom that could go with lots of things. Bloat comes to mind. Bloat symptoms are: Bloat Symptoms
Now that the lecture is over here are some possible treatments. *IF* it is bloat, only a Veterinarian can say for sure:Preventing/treating bloat
Anyway, I hope the very best for you and your pets, and I hope this was helpful. Once again, welcome to pethealthforums!

How old is the puppy? There could be something congenital wrong with her. A hernia could be constricting her intestines, there could be a leak in her heart causing the breathing problems. There could also be an infectious disease, or a blockage etc. There are lots of things that could be wrong and vitamins aren't going to help them at all. A puppy with these symptoms is a very sick puppy and needs to be seen by the Veterinarian asap. Also, your older dog needs to be vaccinated as well especially now that you are bringing a puppy into the home. I don't know if you have (human)kids or not, but think about how often children get sick with colds etc. They are little germ factories since their immune systems have not fully developed yet. Puppies are the same way and your adult dog could very well catch something from the puppy unless he/she gets vaccinated. amanda samantha sydney murphy foster and kipling |
