Default old dog

I am corcerned about my 13 year old dog. He seems alright except for the fact that when he lays down, his breathing is heavy and he shivers like he is cold. He only does this until he falls asleep, then his breathing returns to normal and the shivering stops. Is this just old age?

first, how long has this been going on, has there been any change in diet, excercise, or possibly a new family member? we had a 70 lb pit bull that was terrified of our sun conure and would shake to the point of exaustion when she was out of her cage, if no changes a trip to the Veterinarian is in order, good luck.
