Confused Adult carriers of Parvo

Hi -

I had a litter of 9 week old puppies that all tested positive for Parvo.

My two adult dogs are fully vaccinated (of course). I gave the puppies their frst shots at 7 weeks and they seemed to be fine until yesterday, when I came home and found one of them dead.

The puppies had never been outside, and the adult dogs had only been in our backyard. We had a litter of puppies last summer, who spent most of their time in the back yard (since it was summer) and none of them were ever sick, so I'm pretty sure it didn't come from the backyard (it's secure and no other dogs can get in).

It's been very cold here since the puppies were born, so we haven't walked our adult dogs in months (they have a treadmill).

The Veterinarian said that the adult dogs are probably carriers of Parvo. However, they both tested negative.

If the adults were carriers, wouldn't they test positive, even if they don't ever get sick from it?

I'm trying to track down where this might have come from. I know it's very contagious, and I realize that you can bring it in on your shoes, but when the Veterinarian said that it probably came from my adult dogs, I got really concerned.

I also had a group of people who came to get one of the puppies. They had other dogs, so I suppose there it also a possibility that they brought it with them.

Thanks to all for your help!
