dauschund wound-need some advice

I just found a daxie about a week ago and after not being able to locate her owner, have decided to adopt her. I have a large cat who is getting used to her and apparently whacked her across her snout just above her nose. It is quite a large wound and I am SO afraid it will become infected. I cleaned it out and applied some Neosporin. However she keeps trying to whipe it off or lick it off. All of the info I have found online tell me to wrap a wound with gauze. Obviously I can't wrap gauze around her snout, any suggestions??? I feel so bad for her! It looks like it really hurts!!!!
