Puss Filled Sore

hello everyone! I stumbled on this site looking for an answer concerning an issue with my pug.

She'll be 4 years old this year. Today when I got home from doing errands i let her outside to run around and what not. Well she started scratching. Apparently she scratched something on her back and greenish yellow puss started to just drain down her back. I cleaned it up and washed the area off. I noticed that it looks like an open hole. My wife took a picture of it with her cell phone. Here it is.



We gave her a bath, put Neosporin on it and gave her half of a children's benadryl. The sore seems to keep extracting plasma. After giving her the benadryl she hasn't been scratching that much. She's acting normal; no signs of fever or nausea. She's an inside dog (and very spoiled) and sense she is a pug, she has allergies.

Any clue on what this is and how to treat it?

My wife is calling the Veterinarian tomorrow but i am hoping that posting this will be a faster response to set my mind at ease tonight when i TRY to get some sleep.

My first thought would be a sebaceous cyst. Fairly common and aside from the infection, typically not too problematic. Nonetheless, puss like that is an indication of infection so it would be best to have it looked at by the Veterinarian.

It should be washed out with hydrogen peroxide. And don't use Neosporin, it is not made for animals.
