Doh! Gagging

I have a 2 year old maltese/chihuaua mix... We bought for my dad.. I inherited him when my dad passed away..he does this gagging thing alot, most of the time it is after he eats or drinks, but he also does it when he is not. I have also noticed when he drinks, with each lap he uses his head to throw it to the back of his throat.. Veterinarian doesn't seem worried about, but I seem to have concern with it..My daughter is a groomer and the Veterinarian tech had told her about some dogs have infection of the larnyx or something like that..Any information or remedies is appreciated.

Thanks

Default

My 3 yr old rat terrier has the same problem. usually after she drinks. She eats very fast & without much chewing, then drinks. She only gags after drinking and stops only after spitting up some water (& sometimes food).
I have been told to try raising her bowls up so she isn't bending her neck to eat & drink. I hope this helps. Will report back on the outcome.
