Please help I'm at a loss with my dog
I live in Turkey and my dog, a 12 and a half year old Bichon Frise mix, became quite lifeless last monday and collapsed unable to walk. My brother in law took him to the vets, they gave him prednisolone steroids, Antibiotics and vitamins plus put on a drip with dextrose. This continued for four days but as he had started to eat and defacate he was no longer on the drip. He had blood tests which showed liver and kidney problems and an ultra sound? On saturday morning another blood test showed he was ok although he was still not very well. That evening I became very aware of a rattle in his breathing and feared going to sleep so sunday morning I took him to a different Veterinarian who ran more blood tests, the results were not only alarming but confirmed he is very poorly but what is wrong? His WBC is 127.88 (normal 6.0-17.0), RBC 2.52 (normal 5.5-8.5), Hb 6.5 (normal 10.0 - 18.0) ALKP 329 U/L (normal 23-212), AST 53 U/L (normal 0-50) Ca 7.6 mg/dl (normal 7.9-12.0).. He had an xray which showed fluid on lung and heart and enlarged liver. He was started on two different antibiotics but for the last two days he has again gone off his food and since this afternoon he has totally collapsed unable to even sit. I cooked dinner as per a liver diet adding some Milk Thistle and fed him with a syringe. Does anyone have any idea what I can do next? He has another problem which is a broken cruciade ligament.
