I have a 3 1/2 year old Chihuahua "Dusty" that just this year has been scratching and biting himself down around his tail and lower end. Now that area looks almost like he has mange, it's not bare skin showing, but looks as if he has a buzz cut.. Can anyone tell me what is the problem? I know fleas have been bad this year.. Any advice? Greg

Hi - what are you doing for your kid if you know fleas are around? Even if you don't see them, fleas are still a concern. They might jump on your dog, feed on her blood, lay eggs, and jump off - so you won't necessarily see them on her skin. Just over the tail is a popular spot.
I learned this the hard way long long ago with a border collie who itched all the time and bit off his back hair yet, no fleas were present. Many weeks and dollars later, the Veterinarian figured out he had an allergy to flea bites - just one bite and he was a mess. FRONTLINE saved him. It's a great product in my experience. |

Robink,
Thanks for your reply and help. I had been told by a friend just last night that it may be a flea problem and to try Frontline. Along with your experience I will give FRONTLINE a try.. Thanks again! Greg |

I have two shih tzus. Little dogs often have a gland problem that causes them to bite and scratch. Check with your Veterinarian to see if your dog has full glands. Sometimes these glands can become infected if not treated.
