The most common type of bream (proper spelling) is also called a blue gill. They can be filleted if they're big enough. And they're delicious. They're also fun to catch.

If you have too many in your pond, none of them will get big. Eventaully they'll get sickly and die off, because the water quality will be effected.

If you aren't up to catching the big ones and eating them, maybe you could find a few guys who are looking for a new fishing hole. Pulling the big ones out will allow the little ones to grow up and be big fish...which can be caught and eaten.
