Confused baby Jewel cichlid

We have two baby Jewels in my daughters tank, now the one Jewel has picked on the other Jewel pretty bad and he is now in a bette trap ( for betta or live breaders) however I noticed the other night that he seems to have a white lump on his bottom lip and I wanted to know if it is contages to the other fish, if I need meds for him, what is it even?

Default ick?

Is'nt that small white spots on fins and the rest of the body? This looks almost like a fat lip, if it is ick is that contageous to the other fish?

Doh!

If it is ick, then I do believe it is contagious. But the whole tank is treated, so it doesn't matter too much. It doesn't sound like ick to me, though. Then again, I can't keep a fish tank going, so who am I to be giving advice!

Red face

Tucker's mom is right- ick is contagious, but the treatment does treat the entire tank.

I'd try going ahead and giving the ick treatment. if the ick treatment doesn't get rid of the white fat lip... then it is probably a form of cancer and there really isn't anything you can do for it since fish vets are fairly rare and expensive. :-\ Sorry.

Default Fat lip

Well the lip seems to have gone away by itself, however the poor fish has no tail as it was eaten the other Jewel we bought when we that one, That jewl by the way jumped out of the tank the other day and landed behind my daughter's dresser so no one noticed till later when he was dried up, so we bought her a alge eater and two small green terrors ( we have a 29 gal for them when they grow) we also got her the lid to the tank we just had to wait as money was tight. Now I am faced with this question, what is the humane way of dealing with this?.. should I put the jewel out of his ummm... well you know or should I leave him in there with the green terrors? He is being treated with melafix for his injuries and we have decided to see if he will be ok before deciding, I just thought I would see what you all thought.

BTW Tucker's mom is there anything I can help you with as far as keeping a tank up and running ( it's a wounderful hobby less the issues ) we had a few issues in the beginng and lost a lot of fish for a little while. anyways let me know!!
