We have two baby Jewels in my daughters tank, now the one Jewel has picked on the other Jewel pretty bad and he is now in a bette trap ( for betta or live breaders) however I noticed the other night that he seems to have a white lump on his bottom lip and I wanted to know if it is contages to the other fish, if I need meds for him, what is it even?

If it is ick, then I do believe it is contagious. But the whole tank is treated, so it doesn't matter too much. It doesn't sound like ick to me, though. Then again, I can't keep a fish tank going, so who am I to be giving advice!

Tucker's mom is right- ick is contagious, but the treatment does treat the entire tank.
I'd try going ahead and giving the ick treatment. if the ick treatment doesn't get rid of the white fat lip... then it is probably a form of cancer and there really isn't anything you can do for it since fish vets are fairly rare and expensive. :-\ Sorry. |
