Default pet food scare

The recent recall of menu foods gave me quite a scare and loss of sleep. We have a chocolate and black lab that are our lives. I began surfing the net to research poison food for dogs. That is how I found this website. THANK YOU!!! I knew about some of the people foods that should not be given to dogs, but never realized how many others were toxic. Before I ramble on to much, my main question is... what can be added or prepared to a dogs dry food to enhance their dinning pleasure? My chocolate will eat anything but my black has to be begged to eat. The only idea I've used when their tummies have been off is to skin and boil chicken and make white rice for their meals. This is what the Veterinarian recommended, what are your thoughts? Any insight would be appreciated.

There are a variety of human foods that dogs can eat without harm. Recently because of Samantha's lymphoma I have been cooking for her to keep her eating. My recipe is bonless/skinless chicken breasts, brown rice and frozen green beans. Throw it all in a crock pot with some water and cook for 8 hours. One crockpot full will feed her for at least a week (she's lab size too). Other things that can be added to stimulate the appetite is canned salmon or tuna, fresh fruits and veggies (no onions), canned pumpkin (only the pure pumpkin, not the pie filling with spices), wet dog food (obviously not any of the brands recalled). I use Merrick canned dog food and let me tell you, it looks good enough to eat myself! It is very high quality.

Default more menu ideas...

Thank you so much for your suggestions, I've decided to not use any can foods atleast for sometime to come. Atleast if I'm preparing their food I will feel safer. In one of the discussions on food poison to pets salmon, was mentioned. You were saying canned tuna was ok. I guess what my question is... they are both in the fish family, so is it possible for one to be ok. and not the other? In any envent, the chicken and rice is working for Razzy, I just want new ideas before he becomes bored. I can just hear him say, "Not chicken again." Another concern I have is.. garlic. I've just recently changed Brown Sugars joint supplement to (Joint Guard). The question is it is garlic flavored, should I be concerned? Thanks again, for your imput.
