Geez!
Now they are updating the recall to include DRY FOOD!!!! OMG and it covers sooooo.... many foods! Well folks what do you think? should we start a forum for PET FOOD RECIPES so we can say to hell with the manufacturers and make our own pet food? I will do it based on the poll results. cheers

I have been looking for recipes to make my own dog food, not because of the recall, just for better health.
One major drawback though is making sure that you have a balanced diet. Dogs are carnivors, however, they need a lot more than just meat. It would help to have the advice of a certified canine nutritionist to make sure that the recipes are healthy and balanced for the fat, protein, carbs, vitamins and minerals dogs need to stay healthy. amanda samantha sydney murphy and foster |

That is a great idea. I have been researching pet sites for a few weeks...even before the food recall . YEARS ago I had a dog that needed special foods. When I bought it from the breeder, she said to feed regular dry dog food and suppliment with proteins and rice a couple times a week.
(She suggested raw protein) I did that with great success. I've decided to implement the same thing now but without the raw meats. Instead, I'll cook it as needed. I don't know if you've done any research about commercial foods ( I assume you have) but if not, there is a TON of info to be had. also, go slowly....carrots are listed as a good veggie for dogs but I found out that my Lab is allergic to them. I introduced them to her slowly enough to figure it out. My Corgi is fine with them though............. |
