Question Toy Poodle, 11 Broken Left Leg-tibia

My Little Dog Had A Pin Put In His Leg From His Knee To His Foot. We Are 11 Weeks Out Now. The Bone Is Regrowing On The Outside Of The Pin, But Is Not On The Inside Of The Pin. They Are Talking Amputation In 1 Week If It Does Not Grow. We Are Desparate For Any Suggestions. To Help The Bone Grow. Since It Is Healing On The Outside To Me It Should Grow On The Inside Also. I Have Given Him Bone Meal , Salmon. Garlic --all Kinds Of Good Food I Can Think Of He Miscalculated After All These Years Jumping On The Bed & Broke It Completely In To. How Long Can We Leave The Pin In Before It Has To Be Removed In Order To Give Him A Good Chance At Bone Regrowing Before We Agree To Amputation. The Little Guy Is 11 & Very Healthy. He Is Getting Very Tired Of The Hat He Has To Wear To Keep From Bothering His Leg
