why you should avoid petco/petsmart

this is written by a friend on another forum and well deserve to know what goes on with petco/petsmart/rainbow and ect. people on the other forum are boy cotting i am too(p.s. my username stands for my birds initials c.s.i.)

ive always disliked petco and petsmart, for obvious reasons we have discussed over and over... this video cemented it for me, and there are literally thousands more where that one came from, and given how my little max was treated and the cold manner in which they have dealt with me in trying to get him better(saying well you can come pick out a new bird and we can call it"even")

i will never again, ever in my life ... shop at or buy an animal or a cage or anything from a petco or a petsmart ... ive had a life full of radical activism, direct action and boycotting, ive got experience that would blow your minds ... i will now focus all my effort and attention to doing what i can do to create a better environment for petco and petsmart animals .... i have no idea how i will do this ... but i will do so help me god ... the thought of ONE SINGLE animal suffering that way or how max did is untolerable to me ... i wont stand for it ...

to start with i am writing letters to petco and petsmart, i will bombrd them with mail, emails and voicemails... i will annoyy them to death ... i will locate their breeders and do the same, i will join forces with peta and aspca and who ever the hell else i have to ....

animals can not be treated this way ... ive always stood for animal rights ... worked with aspca since i was a kid ... been a card carrying member of peta for over a decade even if peta is a bit radical and crazed in their manners ... sadly sometimes it takes actions so crazy to wake people up ...

people please .... buy your animals from reputable breeders ... support the local business that is the breeder .... and hold that breeder accountable, question them, visit them ... demand to see the process ... demand to see lisences and so on ...

DO NOT BUY FROM PETCO AND PETSMART .... ive said that im glad i bought my birds because at least they were rescued, but all that does is give them business to buy more birds ...

buy your toys and food online, its cheaper and much larger variety anyway ... buy from vets offices and breeders for toys my vets office has amazing locally made hand made toys that are awesome and cheap ...

make your own bird toys ...

cages are cheaper online.

if you dont have a credit card ... well join the damned modern age and get one ... get a pre paid card ... you can get one from any gas station ... use someone elses card ...

do something ... but this cant be tolerated ... max's body is so full of bacteria that my Veterinarian who has over 30 yrs of experience in birds and study and so on has never seen a bird so badly ill ...

do i want to bring down petco and petsmart??? well thats a good idea but im no idiot ... i know that probaly wont happen ... they are a huge corporation ... they have money and power ... i have no money but i do have power ... im the consumer ... they serve me not the other way around, and i will be a thorn in their side til they AT LEAST become more humane and decent in what they are doing ....

and dont give me this xxxx about oh well my petco is angelic ... its xxxx ... they are all the same, maybe the one by you is good at hiding it ... or maybe the people who work their are just nice so you THINK its nice .... but they all do the exact same thing and they all get from the same breeders.

my Veterinarian told me the reason she went and rescued the birds from petco when i got max was she knew 100% they were sick and wouldnt be treated but rather stuffed in a bag and throw in a freezer to freeze to deatha nd be returned to the breeder for a refund.
